I am amazed by the human connection to the seasons. As we shake the last bits of winter from our bones, we begin to shift and move and reawaken. There's an almost palpable lifting of the human spirit as the sun returns and trees grow leaves. New babies are like that, too. There's a quality to watching a family come into existence that's like a distillation of forsythia and fresh earth. It's impossible to capture, so vibrant. I want to take everything, every bit of fragility and brightness and give them back to families in the form of a photograph. But life is so much more tactile that that. What does this feel like when we touch it? What does it smell like? The taste? Would it even be possible to capture? I have no idea. But I think it's something like the soul of springtime. I hope you can feel it too.
